Rapid City man sentenced on firearms charge

Moses Montileaux Jr., age 39, has been sentenced to 37 months in federal prison and three years supervised release for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

Montileaux Jr., a convicted felon, was in possession of a Bryco Arms .9mm semi-automatic pistol when he came into contact with Rapid City Police in March 2019.

He was immediately remanded into the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.

Montileaux’s case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (P.S.N.), a program spanning all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve in order to reduce violent crime for everyone, as well as Project Guardian, which is a Department of Justice initiative to reduce gun violence and enforce federal firearms laws.
