Rapid City announces updated road closure on Wonderland Drive

Rapid City, S.D. – Rapid City municipal officials announced an updated road closure affecting Wonderland Drive as part of an upcoming infrastructure improvement project.

Beginning Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, RCS Construction will close Wonderland Drive from Cosport Court to Wonderland Court to allow crews to install new water mains, sanitary and storm sewers, along with new asphalt pavement, concrete curbs, and sidewalks.

During the closure, traffic will be detoured using Cliff Drive or Park Drive. Motorists are encouraged to plan alternate routes and allow additional travel time while construction is underway.

The project is expected to be completed by Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026. Officials advised residents to refer to the posted detour map for details on the affected area.
