Rapid City, S.D. – According to the court documents, his name is Richard Melvin Schmitz and he was arrested at his home near Hill City on Friday.

The suspect will make his initial court appearance Monday on the second-degree murder charge.

The victim was last seen alive on Aug. 24, 2013.

She had been in Custer for about six months.

Her body was discovered about a week after she went missing.

Schmitz has long been a person of interest in the case.
