FDNY firefighter shares 9/11 experiences during visit to Rapid City Fire Station 1

Rapid City, S.D. – Rapid City firefighters welcomed FDNY firefighter Tim Duffy to Fire Station 1 during his visit to the Black Hills for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

According to the Rapid City Fire Department, Duffy took time out of his schedule to meet with local crews and speak about his experiences following the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

The department said Duffy shared his firsthand account of traveling to Ground Zero shortly after the attacks and spending several months working alongside fellow firefighters during the recovery effort.

His visit gave Rapid City firefighters an opportunity to hear directly from someone who participated in one of the most significant events in modern American firefighting history.

The Rapid City Fire Department thanked Duffy for visiting Station 1 and for sharing his experiences with local firefighters.

Duffy was in the Black Hills while attending events connected to the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
