Crews continue to work on the first phase of the renovation project along the south side of the parking structure, city officials say

Rapid City, S.D. – According to the city officials, the work is concentrated mainly on the first and second levels. 

Phase one work will continue through Sunday April 30, 2023. 

Access to the parking structure will continue from both the 5^th and 6^th Street entrances until April 30. 

The public can expect periodic detours within the parking structure during this construction phase and throughout much of the renovation process. 

Drivers are advised to reduce speed and use caution around the work areas.  Pedestrians are advised not to walk through marked worked areas.

Effective Sunday, April 30 at 6:00 PM, the entire parking structure will be closed to all vehicles and pedestrians.   The full closure is expected to last approximately 5-6 weeks depending on the weather.  This phase of the renovation will include concrete treatment on all levels and major structural renovations in the driving lanes. 

The project is estimated for completion in late fall.
