Black Hills Advocate puts up elder angel tree

Black Hills Advocate provides services to vulnerable adults in the areas of advocacy, guardianship, elder care planning and more.

They have put up an elder angel tree in the entrance to their business, which is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

The tree is filled with Christmas gift ideas for elder orphans and other seniors in the community who don’t have any family around, or may not otherwise receive any gifts on Christmas.

Gift ideas include blankets, slippers or body care sets. The exchange is contactless, so it’s a great way to spread cheer while being safe.

“We are in homes all the time with elderly folks, and I can’t tell you how appreciative they are just to have a touch point, so our hope this holiday season is to get all of those elder orphans – or as many as we can – a Christmas present and show them that our community cares,” says Jenny Schmidt, Owner of Black Hills Advocate.

Other community partners include Scheels for donating gifts and Meals on Wheels to help distribute the gifts.
