Rapid City, S.D. – Rapid City police are continuing to investigate a shooting that left one person hospitalized and led to multiple arrests following the execution of a search warrant at an apartment.
Officers were dispatched during the evening hours of Jan. 4 to an apartment in the 700 block of E. Anamosa Street after receiving a report of a person injured by gunfire. Upon arrival, police found a gunshot victim who was transported to the hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
During the investigation, witnesses told officers that the suspected shooter had entered a nearby apartment. The Rapid City/Pennington County Special Response Team responded to assist with serving a search warrant at the location. Authorities initially asked the public to avoid the area due to the heavy law enforcement presence.
Police later confirmed the search warrant was conducted without incident. As a result of the investigation, several arrests were made. Francisco Bordier, 30, was taken into custody on a parole hold. Micheal High Elk, 37, was arrested on a felony warrant for second-degree escape by a prisoner. Torell Flute, 37, was arrested on a parole hold and additional charges including obstruction, possession of a firearm by a felon, and possession of a firearm with an altered serial number.
Police said the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting is ongoing and additional updates will be released as information becomes available.
